Project Information.

The Brief

King Edwards Court is a new build student accommodation development in Nottingham. Byond were brought in as the AV specialist as part of the M&E package, working alongside partner Nexsis Comms. The project was won through competitive tender — with Byond's design team engaging directly with the main contractor to define and refine the AV design and scope from the ground up.

What We Delivered

A fully integrated AV installation across the entire building — covering communal, social, fitness, and working spaces. Spaces included reception, a Forest Bar and Campsite social area, event space with projection and wireless microphone capability, wellness and fitness studios, a basketball court, private dining room, study lounge, bookable study rooms, and staff office. All audio zones are centrally managed and locally controllable, with QSys processing and Attero Tech zone control throughout, and a full distributed background music and paging system serving the building.

How We Worked

Byond were engaged at tender stage and worked with the main contractor throughout the construction phase to shape the final design. That early engagement meant AV requirements — containment, power, data, and structural fixings — were coordinated and built in rather than managed reactively at fit-out. Delivery was completed as part of the M&E package, in programme, alongside the wider building trades
