The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Audio Visual Engineer to oversee and manage the design, installation, and operation of audio-visual (AV) systems for our organisation.

The Lead AV Engineer will be responsible for guiding a team of technicians, ensuring the successful execution of projects, and providing high-quality AV solutions that meet the company’s technical and operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Review project documents prior to Installation and communicate with key stakeholders

• Conduct detailed site surveys and document the findings accordingly completing all forms and capturing all required information

• Follow wiring schematics & elevation drawings

• Coordinate and communicate with internal stakeholders, clients, on-site team members and third-party vendors to ensure seamless project delivery.

• Carry out, to a high standard, the Installation of AV/VC equipment into all types of environments in line with the required company standards

• Find solutions to unforeseen issues on site and communicate these to project stakeholders to enable the projects progression

• Have good fixings skills using timber and metal when required

• Be able to terminate all types of AV connections to a high standard including soldering of connections

• Be able to test and fault find basic AV systems and report findings back to the relevant people

• Have a knowledge of IT networking fundamentals such as IP/TCP, VPN’s, Routers, Firewalls

• Be able to configure AV/VC systems such as MTR rooms and audio dsp’s, Videowalls & digital signage systems

• Work alongside Commissioning engineers and programmers to complete larger more complex projects

• Handover AV systems to end users and demonstrate its use

• Capture all required project related information such as asset info & images and complete all required forms & spreadsheets

• Ensure all project documents and work progress reports are submitted in line with company requirements

• Lead and mentor a team of AV engineers and technicians, providing training and development.

• Work alongside & manage sub-contractors

Role and Responsibilities

• Travel to client sites across the UK to perform routine preventative maintenance visits to ensure our clients supported equipment remains in optimum working order and up to date equipment information is documented.

• Provide detailed reports which are clear and methodical, using existing templates and guidance

• Assist our technical support specialists with remote troubleshooting as required, including providing remote technical support to clients directly.

• Work with the technical support desk team to ensure we take smart proactive steps to achieve first visit fixes or workarounds.

• Take ownership when attending client sites to get incidents progressed and resolved as efficiently as possible.

• Field installation of equipment configurations including program control code, touch panel code, DSP code, network switch and router configurations, UC and VC end points as required.

• Field interrogation and re-configuration of AV, UC, and networking equipment as required.

• Complete assigned training and certification as required or assigned.

• Help create and improve support processes and documentation in our knowledgebase.

• Occasionally assist our projects team with installation and snag resolution.

Skills and Experience

• Excellent internal and external communication skills

• Attention to detail and organised nature

• Demonstrable experience within a customer facing service role

• Experience working within a timeframe, against standard SLA and adhering to SLAs and legal terminology.

• Must have strong AV Technical experience, with extensive experience of troubleshooting, workarounds and fixing AV faults

• BAU Support experience

• Customer service focused

• High levels of AV equipment knowledge

• Systems experience (Crestron/Extron/QSC/Logitech/Poly/Yealink/Cisco)

• The ability to read schematic diagrams

• The ability to work under pressure

Qualifications

Essential: Customer Service & a Technical Audio Visual background

Desired: Varied technology background, Avixa CTS/ CTS-i/ CTS-d
